Option 1: Guided Full Day Tour (Most Convenient)
A shared or private guided tour handles pickup, transport between every site, entrance ticket logistics and lunch in one seamless day. This is by far the most efficient way to see Chinchero, Moray, Maras, Ollantaytambo and Pisac without spending multiple separate days figuring out connections between towns that aren't directly linked by public transport.
Option 2: Colectivo (Shared Van)
Local shared vans run frequently from Cusco to towns like Urubamba and Ollantaytambo, and they're inexpensive. The catch is that they don't connect directly between every archaeological site — Moray and Maras in particular sit off the main road and require additional taxis or long walks from the nearest colectivo stop, plus you'd have no guide to explain what you're looking at.
Option 3: Private Taxi or Driver
Hiring a private driver for the day gives you flexibility on timing, but no guiding included, and the full-day rate for a private car and driver typically costs more than joining a guided group tour once you add up the hours involved.
Our Recommendation
Unless you're an experienced independent traveler with several extra days to spare in the region, a guided full day tour covers more ground, in less time, for a comparable or lower cost than piecing together transport yourself.
